With roots in the late 1930’s, Marvel has evolved to become one of the biggest and highly recognisable multimedia brands of our time.

1961 and beyond heralded the arrival of the Marvel Age of Comics, where writer and editor Stan Lee created a wealth of characters with human flaws and placed them in situations which were relatable to the reader, opening Marvel up to a whole new audience. Spider-Man, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, all household names today, and all from the imagination of Lee. With great power comes great responsibility, as Lee once wrote.

Various successful outings such as the X-Men film and earlier animated TV series, and the Spider-Man film trilogy of the 2000s helmed by Sam Raimi ("The Evil Dead" trilogy) were only the beginning. 2008 saw the start of the official Marvel Cinematic Universe with the release of Iron Man, igniting a whole new interest in the world of Marvel and bringing in a new generation of fans.

Further expansion of the universe following Marvel's acquisition by Disney the following year has shown Marvel's hold on popular culture shows no sign of slowing down!
