Epic fantasy trilogy, The Lord of the Rings, consists of three volumes: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King. It was written by British author J. R. R. Tolkien, during the period 1937 to 1949. The books reached such popularity, that three movies and a television series followed - each one receiving critical acclaim of its own.
