Pyramid's Big Wellness Walk for LAMP

On May 14th, a 25 strong group from ‘Team Pyramid’ completed a challenging charity walk in the beautiful Peak District. The group were rewarded for their ten-mile walk, with the harsh terrain up the hills bringing the reward of some truly spectacular views.

The walk was the brainchild of Business Development Manager, Ian Thompson, a keen walker and marathon/ultra/trail runner. What started off as a ‘wellness walk’ and team bonding exercise, became so much more…

“I thought it would be a great opportunity to get people together, to enjoy a fun but challenging walk” Ian explained. “We all know exercise is great for our mental health, but getting out in the fresh air and achieving something as a team is even more rewarding.”

The walk was arranged for the weekend at the end of May’s Mental Health Awareness Week; the route was plotted and rekeyed by Ian and the training began.  “For some people a ten-mile walk is literally like ‘a walk in the park’, but for others it is much more challenging, especially when you factor in the hills and the blissful sunshine that we enjoyed on the day. Everyone that completed the walk should be massively proud of themselves – I think everyone felt a huge sense of achievement.”

A few days before the walk, a Just Giving page was set up and Pyramid rather fittingly, linked in with local charity Leicester Action for Mental Health (LAMP) who were running a series of events under the banner of Trip to the Moon(with the aim of individuals covering 384,400KM during the week).

To date over £750 has been raised for a fabulous cause by Pyramid. The Just Giving page is still open and will remain so until the end of the month, so if you would like to donate, there’s still time. www.justgiving.com/fundraising/pyramid-international
